"I think that they make a superb couple, Lan and his taciturn, fierce, courageous and deeply honorable ways compliment Nyneave's strengths excellently. Nyneave can be annoying but that's part of her charms; refusal to back down (especially in the face of grave danger), her level-headed-ness and immense spirit (allied with stunning looks!) make her one of the most interesting females anywhere in Fantasyland. "Remember back in grade school when someone liked another... particularly when a boy liked a girl? He would go up and punch her, or pull her hair. It was that aggressive thing... and then he would run away. It's sort of the same thing. Her woodcraft skills are as good, if not better than his. She is an extremely strong willed individual (as evidenced dramatically through the series), and then after Lan finds out that she can channel (and be very strong) there is the added incentive of a potential Warder/Aes Sedai relationship between them. The drift from hate/irritation to love is subtle, but it's not unheard of... even in the real world."
